Aquarium Setups and Livestock - Fishroom Details
For this aquarium system, we wanted to include a large refugium to grow macro-algae
for nutrient export, and have an place for pods to thrive allowing for the future addition
of two mandarin fish. This area also houses the skimmer and grow-out tank, and is ventilated
directly outside using an inline ventilation fan. The lighting regime is on a reverse cycle
compared to the main display tank.
Refugium Specs:
- 100 gallon Rubbermaid Stock Tank
- 130W Coralife 24" Aqualight power compact (11pm - 11am operation)
- 260 lbs live sand, 6" bed (bottom layer - 80 lb Caribsea seafloor, top layer - 180 lb Caribsea select)
- 3 fighting conches, chaetomorpha, a little caulerpa (grape, razer), sand dollar
Grow-Out Tank Specs:
- 15 gallon
- 250W 6500K Iwasaki mogul metal halide (midnight - 10am operation)
- Hagen 402 Powerhead
- ZooMed PS 40 PowerSweep
Skimmer Specs:
- Precision Marine Bullet XL-1
- Iwaki MD-70 (provides 1650 gph)
